A Look Back At 2024
17th December 2024
2024 has been a fantastic year, but it’s not been without its challenges. Yet again, consumers have faced increasing inflationary pressures – meaning managing disposable income is more important than ever. That said, the Foodservice market has demonstrated its resilience and adaptability, able to navigate the ever-changing landscape.
But before the year draws to a close and the seasonal festivities officially begin, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and recognise the most important ingredient in any business: our people.
Here, our Head of Foodservice, Mark Warren, and Finsbury’s Chief Commercial Officer, Graeme Clark, reflect on the prosperous year it’s been and our plans for 2025 – and beyond.
“Despite the industry obstacles, it’s been another exciting year for the business,” Mark says.
“Testament to their extensive expertise, collaborative partnerships and utmost professionalism, the team is a joy to lead and makes my role one that I’m incredibly proud of. Their collective passion for their craft drives us to achieve our objectives and solidify our position as the go-to frozen bakery supplier of choice.
“Each member is integral to our overall success, but I’d like to take this opportunity to give a special shout-out to:
Our National Account Managers
- Oliver Dukes | Thanks to his knowledge and skill set obtained over almost two decades working within the sector, Oliver is an invaluable asset to the team and boasts a wealth of experience. He collaborates with his colleagues and industry peers, supporting with the delivery and management of key accounts.
- Emma Richardson | Five years ago, Emma joined the business as a Regional Sales Manager. She’s been a real shining light within the team and hit the ground running, and as a result, she’s since been promoted to National Account Manager.
- Robert Brown | Having joined the company as a Commercial Executive with no previous experience of the Foodservice industry, Robert has demonstrated a determination like no other to learn the business inside-out, which resulted in his progression to National Account Manager earlier this year.
Our Customer Care Team
- Driven by a customer-centric ethos, our support functions play a major part in our overall success. At the forefront is Samantha Wilson – with over 13 years with Kara, she has an excellent understanding of stellar consumer care and of our complex supply chain. She’s supported by Cameron Green, Bobi Williams and Joanne Pope – a team who strive to ensure that the customer is always at the forefront of everything we do.
- Testament to their unwavering dedication to excellence, in a recent customer care survey, 92% expressed having had a positive experience. A huge thank you to all involved!
Marketing Division
- Finally, our Marketing Manager Naomi Ellis plays an integral role in the extended team, responsible for showcasing the Kara brand. At the heart of all things customer-focused, Naomi can often be seen attending events, supporting the wider team, or getting us all involved in the latest trends and initiatives. Eager to expand her marketing knowledge further and elevate our efforts, she is also working on the brand-new Finsbury website which we’re excited to unveil next year!
“Ahead of the festive celebrations, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our team for their continued efforts and commitment to excellence, collaboration, and trust-building – with clients, each other, and the wider industry.”
Graeme added: “Our focus is – and always has been – our customers. We’re wholly committed to offering innovative products, delivering the highest quality, and responding to their ever-evolving needs. By building robust relationships, encouraging two-way conversations, and actively listening to feedback, we continue to pivot to ensure we meet customer demands – often even before they realise what they want or need!
“Thanks to the loyalty of our team and our customers, Kara has continued to go from strength to strength over the past 12 months, remaining a key strategic division of Finsbury Food Group. This exceptional year of growth and innovation comes as a result of several initiatives, including integrating our meringue range from Lee’s Bakery into our out-of-home offer, and our online transition of our dedicated newsletter, The Krumb.
“Finsbury Food Group has also celebrated its first year as a private business, and we’re excited to continue this journey into the New Year. Watch this space…
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our Foodservice customers and colleagues – I hope you enjoy a great festive season, and we look forward to continuing our journey into the New Year.”
And all that’s left to say is a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at Kara.
